Shi Dinghuan

Mr. Shi Dinghuan is Counselor to the State Council and former Secretary General of China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Mr. Shi also serves as the Chairman of the China Renewable Energy Society (CRES). As China's top energy decison maker, his passion is to create the domestic renewable energy market in China. 

 


Eric Martinot

Dr. Eric Martinot serves as senior research director with the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies in Tokyo, senior research fellow with the Worldwatch Institute, lead author of the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report, and visiting professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He lived full-time in Beijing for three years from 2005-2008, teaching courses on renewable energy at Tsinghua University and researching China’s renewable energy markets. That work culminated in the comprehensive Worldwatch report, co-authored with Li Junfeng, Powering China’s Development: The Role of Renewable Energy.

 


Li Junfeng

Mr. Li Junfeng is the Deputy Director General of the Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission. He is also the General Secretary of the Chinese Renewable Industrial Association, Vice-Chairman of the Global Wind Energy Council, and Vice-Chairman of REN 21. Mr. Li is the focal point of the REEEP program for the Region of East Asia. In addition, he was the chief author and aided in the development of China's Renewable Energy Law.

 


Joanna Lewis

Dr. Joanna Lewis is an assistant professor of Science, Technology, and International Affairs at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Her current work focuses on renewable energy industry development, mechanisms for low-carbon technology transfer in the developing world, and expanding options for multilateral engagement in a post-2012 international climate change agreement. Most of Professor Lewis’ research is based in China, and has included studies of China’s energy system and policy options to promote renewable energy use and local renewable energy technology development.

 


William Wallace

Dr. William Wallace is a member of the International and Environmental Studies Group in the Strategic Energy Analysis and Applications Center (SEAAC) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Currently a Senior Project Leader, Wallace has been on NREL’s staff since April 1979. From 1999-2007, he served as Senior Technical Advisor to the United Nations Development Program's Renewable Energy Program in Beijing.

 


Victor Yuan

Dr. Victor Yuan has published more than 9 million characters of research reports, papers, books, and translation works on law, economics, sociology, political science and culture. Victor has abundant experience in organization management, high-level negotiation, marketing research, brand consulting, policy analysis methodology and social community research, being a professional consultant for many high profile corporations. He acts as President of the Beijing Consulting Association and Vice President of the China Marketing Research Association.

 


Margret Kim

Ms. Margret Kim is the Senior International Climate Change Counsel and China Program Director for the California Air Resources Board and the California Environmental Protection Agency. Previously, she was appointed by California Governor Davis to serve as Public Adviser to the California Energy Commission. Prior to her CEC appointment, Margret was Deputy Secretary and General Counsel to the California Resources Agency, a cabinet-level agency with over 30 departments and boards responsible for natural resources.

 


Qin Haiyan

Mr. Qin Haiyan is the Chairman of the Chinese Wind Energy Association. He has been involved in the research and development of renewable energy policy and technology since its beginnings in China. Though the Beijing General Certification Center and the Chinese Wind Energy Association currently take up the bulk of Qin’s time, he has hosted and participated in a large number of renewable energy research projects over the past 10 years, and remains thoroughly committed to promoting renewable energy development and technological progress within the Chinese nation.

 


Lou Schwartz

Mr. Louis Schwartz is president of China Strategies LLC, publisher of the China Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development Report and the China Aluminum Industry Report. At China Strategies, he assists for-profit and non-profit companies, NGOs, and governments that are doing business with or otherwise interacting with the Chinese. Mr. Schwartz represents clients on a wide variety of matters involving China's legal system, economic development, trade, and investment, with a particular emphasis on China’s energy and metals sectors.

 


Julian Wong

Mr. Julian Wong is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Energy Opportunity team at the Center for American Progress. He is also the author of the prominent China energy and environment blog "The Green Leap Forward". At American Progress, Mr. Wong works on a range of domestic and international issues related to climate change, energy, and environmental policy. Prior to joining American Progress, he was a Fulbright scholar in Beijing researching China's renewable energy policies, and a corporate lawyer at the international law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
